Dr. Kurt Senske, 44, is Chief Executive Officer of Lutheran Social
Services, a multi-faceted social service agency with an annual
operating budget of more
than $70 million. During his tenure at LSS, he has been responsible for more
than doubling the size of the agency and steering the once-troubled agency back
to financial stability.
Dr.
Senske completed his undergraduate work at Concordia University
at Austin and Valparaiso University in Indiana with a Bachelor
of Science degree in Business
Administration. He holds a law degree from the University of Illinois College
of Law, a master’s degree in International Relations from Schiller International
University in Paris, France, and a Ph.D. in Government from the University
of Texas at Austin.
Prior
to working at LSS, Dr. Senske served as Assistant to the President
at Concordia University at Austin. Dr. Senske
also practiced law in Chicago, Illinois
with
several law firms, including the firm of Hinshaw, Culbertson, Moelmann, Hoban
and Fuller. In addition, he has worked as a political consultant and senior
staff member for candidates and government leaders at local, state and national
levels.
Dr.
Senske was a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of
Directors of Lutheran Brotherhood, and served as Chair
of the Lutheran Brotherhood
Foundation. He continues to serve on the Board of Directors for the newly
merged Thrivent
Financial For Lutherans, a Fortune 300 financial services organization.
He serves as Chair of the Board for Human Care Ministries
of The Lutheran Church-Missouri
Synod.
Dr.
Senske has recently authored a book titled, Personal
Values: God’s
Game Plan For Life. He is also the author of Executive Values:
A Christian Approach to Organizational Leadership, currently in
its fourth printing.
A
gifted public speaker, Dr. Senske has also been a guest columnist
on a variety of issues for newspapers and magazines.
Dr. Senske, his wife, Laurie, and their daughter, Sydney, live
in Austin, Texas.
